Phillip's presentation and discussion with us inspired me to explore some concepts, each of which has a familiar use, but also a much broader potential for application and understanding:

Voice
Silence
Dissonance
Frame

I'm thinking about these and the ways they can be applied to any art form, and, in fact, all of our perception and experience. I would love to hear your thoughts.

  1. I loved Phillip's presentation as well--it made me think of creativity in a way I never thought of. In regards to voice, he opened my eyes to possibilities in a way no one ever really has. Everything has a voice--I'm still trying to formulate in my head exactly what this implies, but more or less he made me understand what "expression" is-that it's not just some "talented" or "skilled" person creating something. Expression is simply how the voice that each person, each thing, each idea innately holds within themselves is shared with those that can listen. Creativity, I think, is the ability to listen and reciprocate expression. Like I said, still formulating. Maybe when I sort it out better I can explain my thoughts better :)
