Words words

I was talking about astronomy with a friend and we stumbled upon the word "parallax." It means the apparent displacement of an observed object due to a change in the position of the observer." I am trying to exercise my brain by projecting the word into a context other than astronomy. Any ideas?

  1. circle a friend and write about the different angles you see. or draw it. circle a rock, and do the same. put a stuffed animal in a field and walk away from it and see how it shrinks. ride a bike or run as fast as you can as the sun is sinking and you will see that it sinks more slowly. look at a cloud through a video camera using the zoom. Chloe says try something with a flower (and then let us see it on spadubious). just off the top of my shrinking head -- or expanding, however you look at it. GREAT WORD!!!!!

  2. Might I suggest creating a story based on your word? A while back a group of authors were challenged to take an obscure word and spin it out of its original context in the form of a short story. All the stories were collected into an anthology. Check out this site for some excerpts and such that might help you get going:
